Related Events The photographers who chased down Princess Diana should banned from doing journalism ever again. They took a life, though unintentionally, and didn’t think about the ramifications of their actions. This is the exact opposite of what the photographer Julio Ama did in "The limits of art." I think that Julio realized that a moment as personal as what the boys were suffering shouldn’t be put out in public for all to see. Yet, in Princess Diana’s case, the paparazzi, people who take candid pictures of celebrities for publication, came in during a date with her boyfriend Dodi and chased them through the French streets until Diana and Dodi wrecked.
The question I would love to ask the paparazzi is how far is too far when looking at a subject? In Princess Diana’s case, the photographers are now being officially investigated (Christensen). I believe that it is obvious that the paparazzi took their job too far, and now two people are dead because of their actions. The paparazzi should be made an example of because they should be shown that there are limits to their "art." I am not saying that they should be convicted of murder, but they should get punished for their part in the accident. I believe that there should be limits in art. There is a difference between artistic expression and invading someone’s personal life. It makes me angry when something personal happens to human beings and it's shown to the world, where their mistakes are thrown in their face. It is up to "us" as a society to set these limits so that events like Princess Diana's death never happen again. both photos from < http://www.cnn.com/books/news/9808/27/diana.portrait.cnn/index.html > |
