Eduardo and Helena found themselves in an interesting situation when they went to see an evening of pantomime at a theater in Assisi, Italy, and found they were the only ones to make up the audience! As that theater experience made for an interesting abrazo and story to retell, there are many "fun facts" about theaters that I'm sure you all would absolutely love to add to your own "fun fact files!"
The people who dress up and play the part of Mickey Mouse at the Disney resorts and theaters have to be exactly 5'2" tall! Franklin D. Roosevelt was the President who got permission to build a theater and swimming pool in the White House. New Jersey is home of the world's first drive-in movie theater, built on June 6, 1933, near Camden. The world's largest stand-alone theater, the Uptown Theatre, is located in Chicago, Illinois.
New York City, New York holds the greatest total number of live theater seats per capita, the number of theaters in the area, and the number of symphony concerts per year. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania had the first theater strictly for showing motion pictures, Nickelodeon, in 1905 by Harry Davis. The Liberty Theater played the first "talkies" in Walla Walla, Washington on March 25, 1928. The Chatham Theater in New York City, New York was the first gaslit theater in America. It opened in 1825.
